About Our Intergroup
What is an OA intergroup?
When several groups form in an area, they soon realize that they can better perform certain together rather than separately. So the groups may form an intergroup that is directly responsible to the groups it serves. Intergroups spring from a need to provide service for a number of local groups and better information about OA in a community (adapted from OA Handbook for Members, Groups, Intergroups).
Our Intergroup is the Recovery in the Rockies of Colorado Intergroup and consists of the greater Colorado area and communities. Intergroups spring from a need to provide service for a number of local groups and better information about OA in a community. Separate ‘Intergroups’ make up ‘Regions’ and then the ‘Regions’ combine to make up the World Service! See this link for a map showing all ten Regions of OA: https://oa.org/documents/
Recovery in the Rockies is part of Region 3 of Overeaters Anonymous. Region 3 consists of the Southwest and Midwest area of the U.S., including the states of Arizona, Colorado, Central and West Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Utah.
Our Intergroup meets on the fourth Monday of each month. Anyone can attend- there are no rules about this. The normal makeup of the monthly Intergroup meeting consists of Intergroup Representatives from each OA group in the area, committee chairs, and the Intergroup ‘Board’, which is just a description for the trusted servants who occupy the positions of: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Region Representatives, Delegates to World Service and other relevant positions.
